Shady Grove Old Time Jam:

Jam group playing old time/Celtic/folk music in San Angelo, Texas Meets Monday evenings at a private residence or nursing home. For more information, contact Charis Worden.

 

Dallas Ol' Time Music Jam

Don’t forget the good old-time music at Dallas Heritage Village from 2 to 4:30 on the first and third Saturdays of the month. As always, your stringed instrument serves as your entry ticket into the village at no cost. Non-musician (friends and family) are supposed to pay a reduced fee of $5 for entry. Red River Valley Dulcimer Club

The Red River Valley Dulcimer Club meets in various places in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. They do workshops before lunch and a jam session after lunch. Both kinds of dulcimers are supported, and of course, other acoustic instruments are welcome in the jams. For more information, see their web site

 

Northeast Texas Dulcimer Chorus

The Northeast Texas Dulcimer Chorus meets on the first Saturday of the month at the Northeast Texas Community College Hanson-Sewell Center located at 237 College Street in Pittsburg. It's on the intersection of Daingerfield and College St. Right across the street from First Baptist Church. The day starts at 9 AM with workshops for mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, and sometimes ukulele. From 10 until Noon, they jam and all acoustic instruments are welcome.

Hawkins Jam

There is an informal group that meets in Hawkins at the First Baptist Church on the Fourth Saturday of the month to jam from 1-4pm. The group includes both kinds of dulcimers, guitars, stand-up bass, mandolin, autoharps, and sometimes a fiddle. Contact Sharon Boucher to get on her mailing list.

 

Gilmer Dulcimer Players

There's a new opportunity to play the dulcimer in Gilmer. Several from the Pittsburg club wanted more opportunities to play in the Gilmer area, so after a very nice size turn-out for their first meeting, they've decided to start meeting on the third Saturday morning of each month. The meeting is from 9:30 until Noon in the annex to First Baptist Church, Gilmer. It is located at 304 Buffalo Street, on the southeast corner of Buffalo and Trinity.

 

A group of hammered dulcimer players are also meeting there at the same time for a workshop.

Jacksonville Jammers

The Jacksonville Jammers meet on the 4th Saturday of each month, 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM, at the Senior Citizens Center, 302 So. Bolton in Jacksonville, TX.

 

"We also have mandolin, guitar, autoharp, bass, penny whistle, fiddle players and we offer free beginner mountain dulcimer lessons. Visitors are encouraged and welcomed. Bring your instrument and join our jam."

Denton Area Dulcimers

There's a group of mountain dulcimer players who call themselves Denton Area Dulcimers. They meet First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1424 Stuart Road, Denton TX 76209, the last Saturday of the month from 10:00 to 2:00 or 3:00 so bring your lunch.
