Lone Star State Dulcimer Society

Glen Rose 2020 is canceled

Note from Dana Hamilton:

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the cancellation of the 39th Annual Lone Star State Dulcimer Festival. I talked with Michael Leamon in Glen Rose and the logistics of rescheduling were overwhelming. We could not reschedule until September or October. Both those dates interfere with Labor Day, the Walnut Valley Festival (Winfield), and the Winter Creek Reunion in Oklahoma. I am hoping that all of you will consider rescheduling for the 39th Somewhat Annual Lone Star State Dulcimer Festival to be held on May 7-9, 2021. I pretty much have the schedule set up so it's easy to do. Please spread the word through whatever means you have (Facebook, Twitter, Instant messenger, My face, Your face, Whatever other social media is available to you) so the word gets out. The "Kung Flu" is a deadly, indiscriminate killer killing people, animals, and festivals. We can reschedule the festivals but we can't do that with our friends, relatives, and fellow musicians. Please take care, social distance, wash often and let's take with virus seriously. Hopefully we will come to the end of this misfortune and gather together next year and play all the tunes we missed this year. Also too, we have another whole year to practice those tunes.

The Lone Star State Dulcimer Festival, AKA "Glen Rose", because it is held almost every year in Glen Rose, Texas at Oakdale Park, will be held on May 7-9, 2021.

If you made reservations at Oakdale Park ...

I talked with Mike Leamon in Glen Rose and he is informing Oakdale Park about our cancellation of the festival. He suggested that everyone that has reservations call the park and reschedule them for next May. If you cancel your reservations they charge a "cancellation fee". If you change the reservation there is not supposed to be any charge. The phone number at Oakdale Park is (254) 897-2321. Glen Rose is accepting bids to buy the park sometime in July in case anyone has a notion to open and RV Park. I think if it sells the new owners are supposed to honor all the reservations that are on the books. So roll those reservations over to May 7-9, 2021. If anyone has any questions or comments about the festival, the cancellation, the Chinese Virus, or whatever you can contact me by email at: mrbanjoist@gmail.com That's all I got. I don't have a lot but at least I don't have the Kung Flu. Stay safe, stay cautious, and practice your tunes, new and old...
